UN Tourism RSOAP Participates as Panelist at the 3rd Fiji Tourism Convention

UN Tourism Regional Support Office for Asia and the Pacific (RSOAP) is supporting efforts to strengthen tourism resilience in Pacific Island countries, including Fiji. As part of this initiative, the office participated in a panel discussion at the following event and introduced international best practices.

Event: The 3rd Fiji Tourism Convention
Dates: 22–23 January 2026
Venue: Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa, Nadi, Fiji

RSOAP joined the panel discussion titled “Beyond the Storm: Building Tourism Resilience”. During the session, the office introduced the “Sendai Statement,” a joint statement adopted at the Tourism Resilience Summit held in November 2024. The presentation also highlighted international case studies, including the Hawaii Tourism Authority’s use of IT-based communication for tourism crisis management and flood preparedness measures implemented in shopping malls in the Philippines.
Other panelists emphasized the importance of establishing disaster risk management systems and discussed how lessons from past experiences can be applied to strengthen future resilience in the tourism sector.
RSOAP will continue to support initiatives aimed at enhancing tourism resilience in Pacific Island countries, including Fiji.
